TELL
A player's noticeable habit, gesture, action or expression that gives his/her opponents information as to the strength of his hand. For example, "Whenever Jim has a strong hand he turns beet red, goes cross-eyed and shakes like a leaf"!
TEXAS HOLD 'EM
The most popular poker game around today. A game where all players receive two cards down (hole cards) and lay a bet based on the value of those cards. Three community cards are then dealt face-up on the table (the flop) followed by a round of betting. A fourth card is dealt face-up (the turn), followed by another round of betting. Finally a fifth face-up card is dealt (the river) and their is a final round of betting. The best five card hand wins.
THREE OF A KIND
Three cards of the same rank. For example 8¨-8©-8ª.
TIGHT PLAYER
A conservative player who only plays strong hands.
TIGHT AGGRESSIVE
A conservative player who only plays strong hands, and bets them very aggressively when he/she has them.
TURN
The fourth community card dealt on to the board. Also known as fourth street.
WIRED PAIR
When your two hole cards form a pair.
YOU'LL BE ALRIGHT
Something they say down at the Gutshot card room. Everyone needs a little sympathy sometimes.
